3 Regional Managers Promoted in January 2021!

LYNCHBURG, VA - February 17, 2020 - Equis Financial is excited to announce the promotions of three Regional Managers! These three managers have worked tirelessly protecting families and creating a strong business. Congratulations to Matthew Gibbons, Carlos Bastardo, and Maxwell Akinsehinwa.



Matthew Gibbons – Regional Manager


Before joining Equis in January of 2019, Matthew Gibbons was a Project Manager for a cable contracting company. His days were spent door-knocking to collect payments or taking away equipment if they were unable to pay, which was not always easy. After being laid off from his job, he went four weeks without a paycheck, and decided to apply for his insurance license within two of those weeks! Once licensed, Matthew went to work and quickly became an Ignite Award Winner and a Diamond Elite Producer. Matthew just recently became one of 47 Regional Managers at Equis. He says one of his favorite parts about this job is his ability to run his own schedule and have the opportunity to grow.


He tries to spend every moment of free time with his three kids and wife, spending time together as a family. Working with Equis has provided Matthew the opportunity to pay off his wife’s student debt, while still creating a savings account, and being financially free. He and his family no longer have to worry about paying their bills. His favorite Core Value is "Toughness." He says, “in order to be successful in this business you have to be mentally tough, but also have to really believe in yourself.”


Carlos Bastardo – Regional Manager


Carlos has been in the insurance industry for an impressive 27 years, having joined Equis in April of 2019. In less than two years, Carlos has managed to earn a six-figure income, build a team of over ten agents, and has now become an Equis Regional Manager. The opportunities Equis offers its Regional Managers has allowed Carlos to take advantage of the Builders’ Boost Program, which gives him a monthly stipend towards the cost of his “brick and mortar” office.


Carlos’ favorite Core Value is “Relationships” because he says it is a double-edged sword in this business and you have to have strong relationships with clients and your agency. Through these relationships and helping others accomplish their goals is how Carlos achieves success. One of the most exciting opportunities that Equis has brought to Carlos and has set his focus on creating generational wealth for his family is the Integrity Effect: the potential of becoming an Integrity partner. When Carlos is not out in the field and training agents, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.


Maxwell Akinsehinwa – Regional Manager


Maxwell has worked in the insurance industry for ten years helping protect families; previously for another IMO and now with Equis since March of 2019. Through the unique opportunities Equis offers its agents, Maxwell has been able to start saving and preparing for the future. In just under two years, Maxwell became a Silver Elite Producer and is now one of our 47 Regional Managers.

One of his favorite perks about working in this business has been the flexibility of creating his own schedule, which has allowed him to vacation and spend time with his family. When Maxwell is not helping protect families and training agents on his team, he likes to sit down and read a few chapters out of a book. Clearly a goal setter, he committed to read at least 20 books this year! Maxwell’s favorite Core Value is “Toughness” because he says you never know what life may throw at you and you must always remain tough; both physically and mentally.

In order to qualify as a Regional Manager, the agent will have a minimum of $50,000 Issued Paid Business and 10 qualified Unique Writers for two consecutive months.
