An Agent's Perspective of the Equis Dashboard Leaderboard - Written By John Ray

Anyone who’s been part of the Equis family has done it. I’m talking about writing an app at 5:01 PM on a Friday evening, submitting it to the Equis Dashboard, and refreshing the page to see your name in the #1 spot on the Leaderboard of a brand-new week. You quickly screenshot it and blast it out to your team, reveling in the glory of being on top—if only for a brief moment before Deanna Cooper or Tanya Hughes takes over.

Okay, maybe that’s just me.

The Equis Dashboard Leaderboard is an incredible tool for motivation, encouragement, and accountability. I use it every day of every week to stay consistent, drive business, and build for my future. Our CEO, Barry Clarkson, has coached us well—everyone in the company (especially me) is looking for two things: their next paycheck and their next promotion. I can watch for and work toward both on the Leaderboard.

The Leaderboard helps me see where I rank against my team and across the broader Equis nation, pushing me to aim higher and achieve more. When my week starts slow, the Leaderboard keeps me going. Early on in my Equis adventure, when I wasn’t yet writing business like I wanted, I’d look at the Leaderboard just to see others winning at a high level. I’d tell myself: if I can do even half of what they’re doing, I’ll be in a great place. And now, when I fall short of my goals, the Leaderboard reminds me of what I’m responsible for in my business. If others are winning, it proves I can, too.

I also love the competition. Once I figured out how to write business, my position started climbing—from 205 to 130, then top 100, then top 50. I began creating little competitions with myself, measuring up against other agents (even if they didn’t know it). Later, I’d get to meet those agents at in-person events and on the DRT. I fight every week now to beat my RM Connor Jones. Some weeks I do, most weeks I don't. The internal and external competition challenges me to book one more appointment, to write one more app, or to work a Saturday morning to stay in the game.

The Leaderboard communicates so much—my personal production, my team development, growth, and opportunity. It’s also a comforting reminder that next week is another chance. Every Friday evening, the Leaderboard resets. Whether I crushed it and landed in the top 10 or fell short on activity and app count, a new week means a new chance. Another opportunity to fight for what I’m fighting for, to conquer the enemy, and to show it on the Leaderboard.

The Equis Leaderboard has challenged, inspired, and encouraged me to keep building, growing, and reaching for bigger heights. I hope it’s done the same for you, even if just for a few minutes at 5 PM on a Friday.

I’ll see you on the Leaderboard—Let’s go!
