Honoring the Dads Who Lead with Heart and Hustle

This Father’s Day, we’re shining a spotlight on the men of Equis Financial who do more than build successful businesses—they build legacies. These fathers are redefining what it means to be present, to provide, and to lead by example.

In an industry built on protecting families, it’s only fitting that so many of our agents are deeply rooted in their own. They’re showing their children, and the next generation of agents, that you don’t have to choose between making a living and making memories.

This Father’s Day, we’re honoring the dads of Equis who embody what it means to lead both at home and in business, and how this opportunity has allowed them to do both without compromise.

Take Jason Patello, for example, a proud “Girl Dad” who didn’t set out to be in life insurance, but found a deeper calling after his own family experienced the impact of not having enough coverage.

"Let’s be honest—I didn’t grow up dreaming of selling life insurance. I was too busy trying to dunk on my little brothers or beat Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out,” Jason shares. “But life threw me a curveball: We lost someone close, and there wasn’t enough coverage. That stuck with me. I didn’t want another family to go through that.”

What started as a side hustle became something much more. Jason now leads the Patello Insurance Group, but the real reward, he says, is the freedom this business has given him to be present with his daughters.

“I get to walk my girls to the bus stop, hit the dance recitals, and still protect families from my car’s WiFi hotspot. They’ve watched me build something from nothing—and sometimes, they even think I’m cool… until I start dancing.”

For Tab Kolehouse, Equis was the open door to a dream life on the road. In 2020, he and his wife made the bold decision to sell their house, homeschool their kids, and travel the country in an RV—something most would never imagine possible while still running a business.

“Equis Financial has given me the opportunity that most would dream of,” Tab says. “Four and a half years later, we’ve visited every state except Alaska and Hawaii. I meet with clients virtually when it works for me, and that allows me to experience more with my family than I ever thought possible. Corporate America would have never given me this opportunity.”

And then there’s Logan Hand, a new dad who found exactly what he was searching for in Equis: a business model that allowed him to grow professionally while staying connected personally.

“I did tons of research looking for the best work-from-home insurance opportunity. I chose Equis for the culture, the leadership, and the proven business model,” Logan says. “What really sets it apart is the flexibility. I can take a few minutes in the middle of the day to hold my daughter and then get right back to work. That’s something I’ll never take for granted.”

These fathers, and so many others within the Equis community, remind us that the heart of this business isn’t just about income. It’s about impact. It’s about being present, being intentional, and building something your family can be proud of.

To all the dads of Equis: thank you for leading with love, for showing what’s possible, and for creating lives full of both purpose and presence.

Happy Father’s Day from all of us at Equis Financial. 💙
